The Stuart Robinson Racing Team (SRR) supported by KART NATION scored Texas sized victories this last weekend in Mexico at the Nuevo Laredo Grand Prix. SRR Team drivers entered in the event were Cody Jolly and Jared Beyer in Stock Moto, Dave Pergande in Rotax Masters, and Alec Udell and Steven Sore in Mini Max.
The weekend was long and hot but worth the trip across the border. The race had 6 classes and the SRR Team once again brought home 2 big wins and some greatly deserved press.
In Mini Max Alec Udell on his Top Kart Cadet had a tough qualifying position and started 9th, but finished a strong 2nd in the pre-final. Steve Sore finished 4th in the pre-final ensuring an encouraging advantage for the SRR team. In the final Alec took the lead from the start and never looked back as he maintained an 8-kart length lead the whole race. Steven Sore ran third for most of the race with an awesome start and finishing an impressive fifth.
In Rotax Masters Dave Pergande started 6th after a rough qualifying session and fought his way up to 3rd in the pre-final with some awesome driving but on the last lap another driver and Dave wrecked. In the final Dave started last with a bent chassis and worked his way up to 4th position, but the previously wrecked chassis finally gave way and sent him into the hay bales. It was an outstanding race to watch.
Stock Moto was the headline class of the event and SRR Team Driver Cody Jolly dominated the entire race on his CRG Road Rebel shifter. Jolly captured pole by one-tenth and lead the first part of the race but fell back to second for 3 laps. After an amazing move for first place, Jolly recaptured the lead and maintained a 3 second lead all the way to the checkered flag. Jared Beyer struggled in qualifying and started in the 17th spot but with determination he began passing one kart after another and picked up 11 spots to finally finish in 6th place.
