Kart Nation drivers traveled to Norman, OK to compete at the 2009 Rotax Summer Shoot Out

In Rotax Junior on Saturday Alec Udell swapped the lead position with Sebastian Ordinez during the pre-final and final heats. Alec finished the final heat with a 1.236 second lead which landed him in 1st place on the podium. Mason Chelootz finished 7th on Saturday. On Sunday Mason Chelootz started the pre-final off pole with Alec starting in 3rd position. The final was a five kart battle the entire heat between Alec Udell, team mate Mason Chelootz, Dore Chaponick, Louie Pagano, Sebastian Ordonez and fellow SWRC racer Jake French. Louie Pagano won the heat over Alec Udell by just 0.021seconds, Mason Chelootz finished 5th. Alec drove very smart and knew that with his first place finish on Saturday he had to finish in the top 3 to win the event overall. Mason Chelootz came in 5th for the weekend. Team Kart Nation is very proud of Alex and Mason for their performance.

In Rotax Micro Max, Max Hewitt put on a great performance at sometimes leading his class and showed excellent progress. While Max looked like a contender all weekend, luck wasn't on his side and a few track incidents kept the win from becoming his. Max Hewitt finished 5th on Saturday and 7th on Sunday.

In Rotax Mini Max we had Timothy Reger and Nic Reger both who put on strong performances on Saturday and Sunday with Timmy qualifying up front consistently but had some bad luck getting caught up in on track incidents. Bucky Hewitt also struggled on Saturday and Sunday in qualifying and had trouble navigating the traffic on the starts both days making it difficult for him to move up during the race. Overall all the Kart Nation Rotax Mini Max drivers made improvements over the weekend! On Sunday Bucky finished 13th, five places ahead of his 18th place finish on Saturday. Timmy Reger finished 5th on Sunday a huge 8 posiiton improvement over his 13th place finish on Saturday while his brother Nicholas Reger finished in 8th spot Sunday improving 4 places over his 12th place finish on Saturday.
